Tennessee Fire Alarm Contractor

American Contractor Exam Services is offering a variety of online Tennessee Fire Alarm Contractor continuing education. All of our Tennessee Fire Alarm continuing education courses are awaiting approval by the Tennessee Dept. of Commerce and Insurance, Alarm Systems Contractors Board. The courses are written by inspectors, instructors, and leading salespeople with years of knowledge and experience. We are currently developing Tennessee Fire Alarm Contractor continuing education courses. These course will cover such topics as inspection, testing and maintenance, 2005 NEC changes, automatic spinkler design, and hydraulics for fire protection. Here is a list of the Tennessee Fire Alarm Contractor continuing education currently under development.

  • Inspection, Testing and Maintenance - This online course covers testing requirements for sprinklers, testing of waterflow switches and supervisory switches, fire pump performance criteria, new testing requirements for dry sprinklers, legal aspects, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
  • 2005 NEC Review - Continuing education that explains Article 100: which includes definitions of common industry terms as set forth by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and the NECC (National Electrical Code Committee), gaining a more thorough understanding of the 2005 NEC codebook, and the most common misconceptions of the national electrical code as it relates to Fire Alarm contractors.
  • Automatic Spinkler Design - Tennessee continuing education that includes lessons on plans and specifications, dimensioning pipe lengths, considerations for office areas, locate spinklers in an open space, red flags, pipe hanging, cross-main calculation procedures, piping methods and details.
  • Hydraulics for Fire Protection - Reviews hydrostatics or liquids at rest, liquids in motion, water distribution systems, fire flow tests, fire service pumps, tanker pumps, and friction loss calculations.
    These are the current requirements for renewing your Tennessee Fire Alarm Contractor license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

    • To renew your Fire Alarm Contractor License in the state of Tennessee, you are required to complete 8 hours of continuing education every year.
    • The 8 hours of continuing education must be in subjects relevant to the alarm industry and be approved by the Board.
    • The continuing education must be obtained through classroom instruction.
    • The course provider must certify the attendance and completion of the course by its students to the Board on approved forms.
